No Hike - and No Cut - in Minumum Wage

Because the Consumer Price Index fell 1.9 percent in the 12 months ending August 31, the state minimum wage will not increase. Indexed to inflation when the voters approved Initiative 688, the minimum wage has risen annually every year since 1988. Initiative language doesn't prescribe a cut when the CPI heads south.
