Employers Offer a Better Approach to Health Care Reform

At Olympia Business Watch, Jason Hagey has a post on a health care initiative launched by employer groups across the nation. It's designed to help business people to engage constructively in the hottest debate of the day.

The coalition will provide employers with a direct link to their Congressional delegation, and bring a unique perspective to the health care debate along side national business groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.

AWB President Don Brunell said it makes sense for his group to take a leading role in the effort because it has been closely involved in the issue.

"Employers of every size and industry have a stake in the current debate over health care reform," Brunell said. "We want to actively engage and encourage our members, and others like them nationwide, to go on record about the impact of the proposed changes on them as employers."

For a look at public opinion on proposed reforms, visit The Foundry. As I wrote earlier, health care reform has contributed greatly to the president's declining poll ratings.

The employer initiative offers the administration an opportunity to get on the right side of this issue.
